The Nomination
Carnegie Art Award
is aimed at artists who live in or are citizens of Denmark,
Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. A most important and
crucial task is that of proposing artists to be invited
to the selection process.
About 30 experts on Nordic contemporary painting each
nominate up to five artists to this distinction. The experts
are requested to name the most skillful artists according
to their view, and are also encouraged to propose at least
one talented young artist among these. The nominators
are free to suggest artists that have already participated
in Carnegie Art Award exhibitions.
Among the experts are representatives from museums and schools as well as
critics and other specialists on Nordic contemporary painting.
The experts presented on this site are acknowledged in
the book, unless they prefer to remain anonymous. Each
year a new group of experts is requested to nominate artists.
The nominated artists are invited to contribute with up
to five works each, produced during the last two years.
The names of the artists are treated confidentially. Only
those selected to be part of the exhibition are publicly
announced.
